With Bluebridge you can choose a Cook Strait ferry fare to suit your budget – from low cost/non-refundable to fully flexi. We offer special discounts for senior citizens, infants, children, families, and groups, as well as various payment options. You can change the time or date of your sailing or transfer your tickets to another person, but you cannot sell them.

Saver Sail
Saver sail is our best value option if you have firm travel arrangements and want the lowest-priced fare. You can change your sailing up to 1 hour before your departure with the following change fees:
- $20 per person (infants excluded)
- $20 per vehicle/motorbike/ trailer
If the same price fare isn’t available, you will also need to pay the price difference. Changes are subject to availability.

Super Sail
Spend a little more on Super Sail and have the peace of mind that you can change your sailing and not pay a change fee. If the same price fare isn’t available, you can still change your sailing and pay the price difference. You can change your sailing as many times as you like as long as you let us know at least one hour before your departure. Changes are subject to availability and your new travel must be within 12 months of the original travel date.

Flexi Sail
Book a Flexi Sail fare if you want to book with confidence knowing that your fare is fully flexible and that you’ll get all your money back if you need to cancel your booking. Simply call 0800 844 844 or email bookings@bluebridge.co.nz to let us know at least one hour before your sailing, otherwise, it will be non-refundable.
Like all our fare types, you can change your sailing as many times as you like as long as you let us know at least one hour before your departure. If the same price fare isn’t available, you can still change your sailing and pay the price difference. No change fee will apply. Changes are subject to availability and your new travel must be within 12 months of the original travel date.

Special Discounted Fares
Seniors
Senior discounted fares are available all year round to customers who are over 60 years of age, OR who hold a Super Gold Card or a Grey Power Card. Let our Contact Centre know when booking or select a Senior passenger type (instead of an adult) when booking online. A valid membership card or a valid proof of age document such as a driver’s licence or passport is required at the time of check-in. Failure to provide this information may result in the fare difference having to be paid prior to boarding.
Infants and children
Infants (under 2) travel free with us, while children (2-17 years) travel for around half the price of an adult’s fare when travelling with an adult. Let our Contact Centre know the ages of your children when booking or select infants or children when booking online.
Please note: all children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Unaccompanied children are required to pay an adult fare.
Family fare discount
You’ll automatically get a family fare discount on the fare type you choose if your booking includes one adult or senior, one infant or child, and any vehicle (excluding motorbikes). The discount will be applied to a maximum of one vehicle per booking and one item being towed by that vehicle (e.g. a boat or trailer). Terms and conditions apply.
Group bookings

Please note that credit / debit card bookings made online or with the call centre will incur a non-refundable 1.75% card payment fee. This fee does not apply to bookings made using online banking.

What is POLi
POLi allows you to make a payment for goods using money straight from your bank account. POLi is a safe and secure way to facilitate an online banking transaction between your bank and Bluebridge.
How do I find and use POLi?
Using POLi is simple. Once you are ready to pay for your Bluebridge booking, select Online Banking from the payment methods on the payment page. Once you select Complete Transaction, you’ll be taken to a POLi payment screen to complete your details and confirm. When the transaction is confirmed, you’ll be returned to the Booking Confirmation screen. Remember to have your online banking details handy when selecting POLi.
Is POLi secure?
POLi uses advanced security features to ensure that your online banking details are not exposed in any way. POLi is independently audited and assessed on a regular basis.
At no stage during your transaction does POLi store your online banking details.

Is there a fee for using POLi?
No, you will not incur any additional charges from Bluebridge for using POLi. However, your normal online banking transaction charges from your bank may apply.
How to pay with a Farmlands card
To pay with a Farmlands card you will need to make your booking over the phone by calling 0800 844 844 or in person at either of our terminals. Payment will need to be made at the terminal and your Farmlands card must be presented when you check in. Find out more.
Afterpay
What is Afterpay?
Afterpay is a payment option that enables you to book your next Bluebridge ferry trip online and spread the cost instead of having to pay it all upfront in one go. You pay the first 25% when you book online and then pay the rest off in three equal payments, every two weeks. It’s always interest-free, no minimum spend and no Bluebridge admin fee, you’ll pay nothing extra when you pay Afterpay on time, and you don’t have to book weeks in advance. If you’d like to use Afterpay simply select Afterpay as your payment option when you book and follow the prompts. If you haven’t yet joined Afterpay, it’s free to join and takes less than two mins to set up an account when you check out.
Is there a fee for using Afterpay?
Afterpay is free to join, always interest-free and won’t cost you anything extra when you pay Afterpay on time.
